April Gudenrath began her career in technology with a dream of wanting to be a high school English teacher.
She did CBT (computer based training) as well as project management for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. In addition she was on the NT Platform support team for Hewlett-Packard.She then went on to be on the Windows team for Oracle and became an Oracle DBA.
She also worked with several universities to develop courses that would allow the Microsoft certifications to be taught in a college classroom. She is an MCSE, MCT, and an MCP.
She understands how the business world works and brings all of that knowledge into the classroom. Having to work with large and small groups of people, she understands how to negotiate and make sure that goals/deadlines are met. Working for Fortune 500 companies helped her to understand the value of commitment and supporting your clients. Teaching at the college level reminded her of her dream and that is when she went back for her Masters degree and stepped into the classroom.
April taught at an International Baccalaureate school in Colorado Springs, CO for over 13 years and then decided to move to South Korea to persue her dream of teaching internaionally. Currently she is at Taejon Christian International School in Daejeon, South Korea. She was hired as an English/TOK instructor but now has moved into the Learning Commons/Media Integration Specialist. She has taught both DP Senior English as well as Theory of Knowledge and many classes in-between.
