I love Evernote for several reasons -
1. I can be anywhere and store my research/thoughts in the cloud
2. I can upload/share different types of media
3. I can organize my thoughts/idea/research
And these are just a few. But when I really fell in love with Evernote was when I was showing it to my TOK class. They are required to do a 4000 word research paper and use 12-15 sources on a topic of their choice. This can be a daunting task and they seem to have the most issues getting their research in order and keeping track of where they found what pieces of information. So I thought that I would show them Evernote. As I was showing them on my Ipad, I had opened up a PDF that normally they would print and then forget about and/or loose and I found the coolest feature - I could send the PDF directly into Everrnote. As long as I could get a PDF or print preview of the research from the online database, I could send it to Evernote.
This is amazing for so many reasons! One, my students can save research with the citation at the bottom of the document so they know how to cite it and where it came from. Secondly, they don't have to waste paper over and over again by printing things that they will not use. Thirdly, it is accessible from anywhere so there is no more excuse of I forgot my notebook or I don't have my computer with me today.
If you teach research in your classes and show them how to use online databases, I would highly recommend showing your students this really cool tool! There is so much more that it can do, the Web clipper and so on. Check them out at evernote.com and the extension on the Chrome store.
